What We Collect
For guests: When you submit an inquiry or make a booking, we collect your name, email, phone (optional), and message content. Payment information is processed by Stripe and never stored on our servers.
For guide operators: When you claim a listing, we collect your name, email, phone, and any profile content you add (description, photos, pricing, trip templates). We also store your Stripe Connected Account ID for payment processing.
For newsletter subscribers: Email address and optionally your state of interest.
How We Use It
- Display your listing on guidewatr.com
- Send inquiry messages from guests to guides
- Process bookings and payments via Stripe
- Send transactional emails (booking confirmations, waivers, trial notices)
- Send marketing emails (claim outreach, market reports) — only with consent or legitimate interest, with easy unsubscribe
Third-Party Services
We use:
- Vercel — hosting and CDN
- Neon — PostgreSQL database
- Stripe — payment processing
- Resend — transactional and marketing email
- Anthropic Claude — data enrichment (we send business names and public website content to Claude for classification; we do not send guest PII)
Cookies
We use session cookies for authentication (NextAuth) and an admin cookie for the admin panel. No advertising cookies. No third-party trackers beyond Google Analytics (GA4) if configured.
Data Retention
Guide listings and associated data are retained indefinitely. Guest booking records are retained for 3 years for tax/legal purposes. Unsubscribed email addresses are retained on a suppression list to prevent re-sending. You can request deletion of your data by emailing hello@guidewatr.com.
Your Rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time by emailing hello@guidewatr.com. If you are a guide operator, you can edit or delete your listing content directly from the dashboard.
